Multiple Teams · Bragging Rights: AC Flora Captures the Carlisle Cup


AC Flora has been awarded the AAAA Carlisle Cup for the 2018-19 school year by the SC Athletic Administration Association. The Carlisle Cup, formerly known as the Directors’ Cup, is presented to the most outstanding athletic program in each of the state’s five classifications. In July 2006, the SCAAA Board named John Carlisle as Executive Director Emeritus to recognize his dedication and contributions to the formation, development and growth of the SCAAA. The Falcons accrued 940 total points this year and have been close for several years prior, finishing 4th in 2017-2018 with 800 points and 3rd in 2016-2017 with 920 points.

Points are awarded for teams’ successes in the state playoffs in all 22 SCHSL-sanctioned sports.  AC Flora is the ONLY high school in the SCHSL (regardless of classification) to qualify for the state playoffs in every sport sanctioned by the league.

Points awarded for each sport’s final placement of the season:

1st place: 100 points
2nd place: 80 points
3rd – 4th place:  60 points
5th – 8th place:  40 points
9th – 16th place: 20 points
17th – 32nd place: 10 points

Our athletes are also getting it done in the classroom. Of our 733 total unique athletes,

410 had a GPA of 3.5 or higher
330 had a GPA of 4.0 or higher
197 had a GPA of 4.5 or higher
48 had a GPA of 5.0 or higher

This award is truly the work of the athletes, coaches, Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, and Principal to attain a high competition level across all the sports. Thank you to all the athletes who put in the work and gutted it out to the finish. Congratulations to all involved!
