Multiple Teams · AC Flora Football Regains Excellence In 2018 Campaign

The 2018 AC Flora Football Program came into the season reeling from a tough 2017, chocked full of effort and passion, but empty-handed in victories. The coaches and players were determined not to repeat the results and were prepared to play.

Twenty-eight seniors returned to Varsity. The ranks of Junior Varsity, Freshman team, and the Crayton Cavalier team swelled as a feeling of excitement grew within the program under second-year Coach Collin Drafts.

Our AC Flora Varsity Team opened with two tough road games, mainly because our home away from home Memorial Stadium was still unfinished, first against Beaufort High School and then against Union High School, dropping both, but extremely competitive in both.

Then, after a 12-game losing streak, Our Falcons rolled over Columbia High School 45-12 and never looked back!

  • The huge come-from-behind victory over the Eagle Empire, Chapin High School, a last minute win: Us 28 – Them 25, stunned sports pundits around the Palmetto State.
  • The 30-point margin of victory through Region Play resulted in an undefeated streak resulting in the Region Championship.
  • The victory over rival Dreher High School, 55-14, put an exclamation point on the regular season for Our Birds.
  • The nine-game win streak tied the all-time AC Flora record.
  • They won 44-21 over Lancaster High School in the first rounds of the playoffs.
  • They lost a tough one to Wren High School to end the season, but played well.

The Falcons garnered awards for Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Special Teams Player of the Tear, and Coach of the Year for our Region. Eight players were named All-Region.

The future is bright as well. Our Junior Varsity team finished 7-1 going undefeated in Region play, and our Freshman team finished 6-1 going undefeated in Region play. In addition, the Crayton Cavaliers were undefeated resulting in a Richland One Championship!

Congratulations to Coach Collin Drafts, all of the assistant coaches, all of the players, all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends of the team, as well as all of the fans supporting Falcon Football on a truly fabulous season!
