AC Flora High School
Lugoff-Elgin High School
The AC Flora Falcons and the Lugoff-Elgin Demons left it all on the field Friday night at Lugoff-Elgin Stadium, in Lugoff, South Carolina. In a quintessential battle between two teams with Everest-sized desires to win, everyone knew that only one could bring home the W.
There were thundering hits, excruciating runs, pancake blocks, acrobatic catches, and, most importantly, flush kicks.
The game could have gone either way. Every Falcon and every Demon played his heart out, and should be lauded.
With only 0:03 left in the first half, with the Birds down 6-0, Cory Riley crashed into the end zone to tie it up for the Good Guys. After the extra point, it was 7-6 at the half.
After all was said and done, the difference in the score was #30 Thomas McCutchen’s leg which booted a pure and sweet 47 yard field goal, yes a 47 yard field goal, in the third quarter to put the Falcons ahead 13-6 heading down the stretch.
The Demons scored in the 4th Quarter, but missed yet another PAT, leaving them one point behind the Falcons with 4:13 on the clock.
The Falcon defense stepped up, overcame costly penalties, and secured the W with tenacious and relentless pursuit of the Demon attack, which was so fun to watch!
Wow. Team Victory.
The Richland Northeast Cavaliers will sashay into Memorial Stadium next Friday at 7:30 to try to slash and dance past Our Falcons. Be there to support the team!
